2014 Jayco Greyhawk: what breaks, and at what mileage
What breaks on the 2014 Jayco Greyhawk
Only 1 defect report has been filed with NHTSA about the 2014 Jayco Greyhawk, which is too few to compute mileage percentiles or a risk score. The report reported other body or interior problem.

How reports accumulate
Every report with an odometer reading, cumulative, from 0 to 200,000 miles. A curve that climbs early is a car with early problems, whatever its total.

Rate per 1,000 uses a fleet-size estimate derived from recall paperwork for this exact model year. It is a lower bound. Repair costs are typical independent-shop ranges for the failure, not figures from these reports.

Other body or interior problem
Jayco installed residential carpet directly over the uninsulated floor if the ford e-450 cutaway chassis. When the unit is sitting in traffic in hot weather the carpet begins to melt and smoke. This is most acute at high ambient temperature with the unit moving at slow speed or if the unit has been driving up a long grade and then is stopped at a light or in traffic. Jayco redesigned the 2015 model year greyhawks to properly insulate the floor however there are thousands of units endangering the public on the road. Jayco did replace the affected carpet on my unit however, they replaced it with residential foam rubber not certified for use in an automotive cab. I paid out of pocket to have proper automotive grade insulation put down before the rebond residential pad was placed on the cab floor. *tr
Recalls on the 2014 model year
NHTSA has issued 1 recall campaign covering the 2014 Jayco Greyhawk, affecting an estimated 311 vehicles. A recall is a different kind of evidence from a complaint: it is the regulator and the manufacturer agreeing that something has to be fixed, and the fix is free for as long as the car exists.
The campaigns cover equipment. Whether the work was actually done on the car in front of you is a question only the VIN can answer, and the manufacturer or NHTSA will answer it free.
Recalls also distort complaint counts. Publicity about a campaign reminds owners that complaining is possible, so reports for a recalled component often spike after the recall rather than before it.

- Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V746-9524.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the…
- Consequence
- In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Jayco will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267, or Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information.
Recall work is free at a franchised dealer regardless of the car's age. Check the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls before assuming it was done.
Every year of the Jayco Greyhawk
Scores compare each year against other cars of the same model year, so a low number on an older car is a real result and not an artefact of age.
What the reports on file say
The complaints recorded against the 2014 Jayco Greyhawk are other body or interior problem (1 report, around 3k miles). With a sample this size these are anecdotes rather than a pattern, and they are shown because somebody looking at this exact car would rather see them than nothing.
Why this page is short
A model year needs about 8 reports before percentiles mean anything, and this one does not have them. Complaint volume tracks how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road, so a thin page usually means a rare car, a new car, or a car whose owners do not file.
Where this comes from. Every figure above is computed from NHTSA owner complaints and recall records for this exact make, model and year. Complaints are voluntary and self-selected, so treat counts as a floor. The methodology page writes out each formula, and the same numbers are available as JSON.
