How reports accumulate
Every report with an odometer reading, cumulative, from 0 to 200,000 miles. A curve that climbs early is a car with early problems, whatever its total.

Every reported failure mode
| Failure mode | System | Reports | With reading | 25th | Median | 75th | Per 1,000 | Typical repair | Severity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Other electrical problem | electrical | 1 | 1 | — | 100 | — | 3.2 | $250–$2,000 | Moderate |
Rate per 1,000 uses a fleet-size estimate derived from recall paperwork for this exact model year. It is a lower bound. Repair costs are typical independent-shop ranges for the failure, not figures from these reports.
What owners wrote
Verbatim from NHTSA complaint narratives, trimmed for length. The odometer reading is the one the owner gave.
Other electrical problem
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 jayco greyhawk rv motor home. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing several recurring failures. Two transfer switches, two inverters, three air conditioner lines, the battery, two entertainment units and two solenoids were all replaced by five different authorized dealers. The contact stated that each replacement part failed approximately one month after being installed in the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was informed that the warranty would soon expire. The failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage was 39,112.
Recalls on the 2008 model year
NHTSA has issued 2 recall campaigns covering the 2008 Jayco Greyhawk, affecting an estimated 521 vehicles. A recall is a different kind of evidence from a complaint: it is the regulator and the manufacturer agreeing that something has to be fixed, and the fix is free for as long as the car exists.
The campaigns cover equipment and equipment:recreational vehicle/trailer:lpg systems. Whether the work was actually done on the car in front of you is a question only the VIN can answer, and the manufacturer or NHTSA will answer it free.
One caution about reading these together: a recall usually raises the complaint count for the same part, because owners who read about it go and file. The mileages stay informative; the counts get noisy.

- Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V746-9524.pdf. - Jayco is recalling 1,265 my 2005-2008 seneca '35gs' and my 2007-2008 greyhawk '33ds' and '32ss' motor homes. The conduit clamp on the copper liquid propane (lp) tube feeding the slide-0ut is incorrectly placed which may allow the copper tube to bend and possibly leak with the movement of the slide-out.
- Consequence
- If the copper tube cracked, pressurized lp gas may escape into the compartment. This condition, if not addressed, may result in a fire, injury or death.
- Remedy
- Dealers will relocate the conduit clamp and add a rubber grommet to allow adhesion. The recall began on may 26, 2008. Owners may contact jayco at 1-574-825-5861.
Recall work is free at a franchised dealer regardless of the car's age. Check the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls before assuming it was done.
Every year of the Jayco Greyhawk
Scores compare each year against other cars of the same model year, so a low number on an older car is a real result and not an artefact of age.
What the reports on file say
The complaints recorded against the 2008 Jayco Greyhawk are other electrical problem (1 report, around 100 miles). With a sample this size these are anecdotes rather than a pattern, and they are shown because somebody looking at this exact car would rather see them than nothing.
Why this page is short
A model year needs about 8 reports before percentiles mean anything, and this one does not have them. Complaint volume tracks how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road, so a thin page usually means a rare car, a new car, or a car whose owners do not file.
Where this comes from. Every figure above is computed from NHTSA owner complaints and recall records for this exact make, model and year. Complaints are voluntary and self-selected, so treat counts as a floor. The methodology page writes out each formula, and the same numbers are available as JSON.
